Efficient self-cleaning filtration solutions for land-based aquaculture
Automated filtration systems engineered to reduce water consumption and protect valuable equipment across seawater, freshwater, brackish water, and recirculated process waters.
Land-based aquaculture depends on stable water quality and predictable operation.
Our filtration solutions are designed to protect downstream processes, reduce operational risk, and ensure consistent performance in both intake water and internal circulation systems. Automatic backwashing uses filtered water to enable uninterrupted self-cleaning without requiring additional water supply or manual intervention.
Built for demanding aquaculture water conditions
The Filtrex ACB filter series is designed to handle varying water quality and protect downstream equipment in intake, process, and recirculated water systems. The filters maintain stable performance even during rapid changes in particle load and water conditions, supporting continuous operation in land-based aquaculture facilities.
Applicable for:
- Seawater, freshwater, and brackish water
- Recirculated process water and RAS applications
- Protection of heat exchangers, UV systems, and additional process equipment.

Proven filtration technology - Filtrex ACB series
PG Flow Solutions’ filtration offering for land-based aquaculture is based on the ACB self-cleaning filter series from Filtrex s.r.l, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of automatic self-cleaning filtration systems.
With decades of experience from demanding offshore, marine, and seawater-based industrial applications, Filtrex delivers proven filtration technology designed for continuous operation, corrosion resistance, and stable performance.
Reliable filtration solutions for land-based aquaculture
By combining proven Filtrex ACB filtration technology with system integration from PG Flow Solutions, customers gain a robust and predictable filtration solution tailored to land-based aquaculture.
Customer value:
- Stable filtration performance under varying water conditions
- Continuous operation without process interruptions
- Low water consumption during backwashing
- Reduced operational risk and protection of critical downstream equipment
How does it work?
The ACB self-cleaning filter is a fully automatic, pressure-driven filtration system designed for continuous operation.
Raw water enters the filter housing and flows through the filter element, where suspended solids and particles are retained on the filter surface. Clean, filtered water exits the filter and is supplied to downstream processes.
As particles accumulate, the differential pressure across the filter increases. When a preset threshold is reached, an automatic backwashing cycle is initiated. Backwashing is performed sector by sector, allowing filtration and cleaning to take place simultaneously without process interruption.
The backwashing process uses filtered water and requires no external water supply, ensuring stable filtration performance with low water consumption.
