PG Submix – Efficient Agitation System

A mixer or agitator is a machine installed in a tank to keep liquids and suspended solids in motion, ensuring proper mixing and preventing sedimentation. By rotating propeller blades mounted on a top turret, the agitator creates a controlled flow pattern that maintains uniform conditions throughout the tank — supporting the desired process or product outcome.

Meet PG-Submix

PG-Submix is a proven and robust agitator with hydraulic or hybrid electro-hydraulic drive. It delivers high torque at low speed to keep sludge in motion, ensuring efficient mixing and preventing unwanted settling or separation.

PG Submix is ideal for continuous agitation of thick, particle-laden fluids, ensuring good homogenuous mixing and preventing setteling and sediment build-up in the lower part of the tank:

• Drilling Mud and liquid cargo storage tanks onboard Offshore Supply Vessels
• Silage holding tanks in aquaculture
• Biogas digesters and mixing pits
• Sludge and buffer tanks in municipal wastewater treatment plants
• Industrial processing tanks for sludge, pulp and other mediums prone to setteling

Differently from the a.m. electric propeller type solution (which create an angled horizontal spiral in the tank), the Submix-units create a vertical circulation by gently moving the liquid by low speed (20-45 rpm), high torque towards the bottom of the tank generating the highest energy / velocity there to lift, mix and agitate the content at very high quality.

Both the shear-forces and cavitation issues are at completely different levels compared to propeller type units. The latter making these units highly attractive also to keep special chemicals, polymers and other high value cargo in controlled suspension.
